I have exciting news!  Harper Collins bought my first astrology book! It will come out Sept 13, 2016. The Harper Collins team is fantastic and I feel very fortunate. They are already getting me out there, as you can see from this July 24th live interview on the San Diego Living show.  Let me know what you think!

Every woman has a male (Mars) energy inside of her.  Just as every man has a female (Venus) energy inside of him.
The placement of Venus in a woman’s chart shows you how that woman needs to be loved. For example,  if a woman has Venus in Gemini, she likes lots of communication. She operates from needing a mental connection. If it is in Leo, she needs dramatic expressions of love, and some degree of luxury for good measure.  Each Zodiac sign signifies a different approach to the woman’s basic love nature.  For a man, his Venus shows you what type of female he is attracted to.  So, if he has Venus in Scorpio, he needs someone who is comfortable with her eroticism.  If he has Venus in Libra, he wants a woman who is very refined and classy.  You can see how useful this information is!  If you are not feeding your partner’s basic love nature (which might be very different from your own) then things can get rocky.  Mars in a woman’s chart shows you what type of man turns her on.  If a woman has Mars in Aries, she needs a fiery athletic man.  If she has Mars in Pisces, she requires a man who is soft and gentle.  In my next posting I will explain more about the Mars energy.  Always remember, Mars represents male energy and how one moves forward in life.  Venus represents the female energy and how we want to express love.

One of the most well known medical doctors in the USA, Dr. Christiane Northrup, recently posted a comment regarding her strong belief in astrology:

When someone asks me why astrology plays such an important role in my life, I know they don’t see astrology the way I do. Astrology connects us to the universe—to the whole. It helps us make meaning out of seemingly meaningless events, especially the ones that test our resolve. It imbues the universe with the magic that our souls crave.

Maybe it has something to do with my being an OB/GYN. The phrase “moon time” was used for eons as a euphemism for menstruation. Of course, once-upon-a-time women lived together in clans, and so forth, and their menstrual cycles were synchronized with both each other and the moon. And any Labor & Delivery ward will confirm that more babies are born during a full moon than any other time of the month.

So when someone questions my belief in astrology, I reply with some questions of my own: “Do you believe in the phases of the moon? Do you believe in the seasons?” And then I add, “Because astrology is about aligning with the forces that rule the moon, the tides, and the turning of the planets, and then finding your unique place within this system based on how the planets were lined up at the moment of your birth.”

“All anyone can see in a birthchart are tendencies that will become facts if he does not do something to alter them.”

Isabel Hickey

This is a great quote by Isabel Hickey, who was the teacher of one of my astrology teachers.  I believe our birth charts are like an orchestra, filled with many people playing instruments.  What does our life sound like?  What choices are we making with what we have?  Will we play the same song over and over again.  Will we let the trumpets take over and the flutes never get a chance?  An astrologer is like an orchestra conductor.  Allowing all the nuances of all the parts to be heard…. so that in the end, it is hopefully the best piece of music for us.  But as Isabel Hickey states, without understanding our tendencies, the music could be hard on the ears.

Does astrology  work for pets too?  The answer is yes!  Anything that has a birthday, time and place can have an astrology chart drawn up.  In other words, anything that is birthed….which could include a pet, a new company, a country, or a new relationship etc.  When I got my Norfolk Terrier puppy, back in the early 1990’s, I did his chart even before I met him.  I saw that his chart with mine was all very  intense and not exactly easy.  However, I fell in love, and named him Pekay, after a favorite character in the novel THE POWER OF ONE.  Pekay got Lymes Disease when he was a year old, and after that he was never the same.  He became a very intense dog with soulful eyes.  I loved him deeply, but it wasn’t exactly a fun and easy relationship.    I believe we have to do what we feel is best in each moment, and I never want astrology to rule my life.  However the chart comparison between Pekay’s chart and mine was accurate. I have no regrets, but as one of my friends says, “If it’s not easy, then I don’t want it.”  There is some wisdom there.  But no matter what,  go with your gut and your intuition.
