Happy Holidays to all!

Here’s to a peaceful 2014

To all of you who have followed this blog during 2013……many thanks!  It has been a pleasure communicating with you. As we move in 2014, I hope you will let me know what interests you most. I am happy to accomodate any special requests.  As for this year we are ending, I would say 2013 was a year of very high intensity.  2014 will be much the same until the summer, when it gets a bit lighter.  I had many clients during 2013 who were experiencing very profound anxiety.  For many people, a lot of big changes had to occur in order to start fresh.  The hardest thing to do during these anxious times is to be still and have some sort of meditation practice.  I suggest five minutes in the morning and five minutes in the evening.  We can all manage to do that.  Yet for many of us, even that will seem difficult.  Venus is retrograde right now, and will be until Jan 31, 2014.  Venus is the planet of beauty and love.  When she moves backwards she is asking us to hunker into softness.  Perhaps you can think about spending time with your pets, and loved ones, in silence.  Stop talking. Be in Nature and just listen.  This is very important during the month of January. We have a Grand Cross in the Cardinal signs until January 12th. As a heads up for 2014, March and April (especially April 20-24th) will be super intense because that Grand Cross gets more exact (the image is of being caught in the crosshairs).  If you have planets in the early degrees of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn), you will feel the tension.  As an Astrologer, I have no idea how this will play out, other than to say it will be a fierce time.  My only suggestion is to lay low and go within. It’s just a “weather pattern” of a big storm, so be prepared….especially if you are a Cardinal sign.   I think it is interesting that in Chinese Astrology we will be leaving the year of the Water Snake in February and moving into the year of the Wood Horse.   A Horse year is all about action.  Things should be moving faster in 2014 than they did in 2013. Here’s to galloping into a successful new year!

Nelson Mandela on Day After Release

“I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die.” April 20 1964, Nelson Mandela at the Rivonia Trial

Nelson Mandela died on a day when clearly the angels were with him. The astrological aspects were pleasant and he went out with a gentle wind.  Neale Donald Walsh, author of CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD, calls the day of our death our “Continuation Day”.  I believe he is correct.

I wanted to look at Mandela’s chart to see how a man could endure so many years in prison and not become bitter.  His Moon was in Scorpio (which wants to go to great depths) in the 12th house which rules prisons.  So his emotional intensity could handle the darkness of the place, because he understood darkness at the most profound level.  His beautiful Venus conjuct Jupiter was another reason for his lack of bitterness.  Moreover, I am struck by another deeply talented human being who was totally missing an element.  Nelson Mandela did not have any planets in earth.  What this means is that he was either completely grounded, or completely from another realm, and very much able to detach.  This would be a quality that would be useful to have in prison! So this amazing man that I have always admired, and who actually shared my birthday of July 18th, has left this plane.  I hope that from wherever he is now, he will continue to help us here on earth with that idea he cherished, of harmony and equality.
